Warranty and Care

Warranty Statement

Castle Custom Curbing Ltd. provides a limited warranty for concrete curbs for a period of 1 year from the date of installation. This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and proper installation. Castle Custom Curbing Ltd. will, at its discretion, repair or replace any concrete curb found to be defective within the warranty period. This warranty does not cover damage caused by improper care immediately after installation, misuse, neglect, acts of nature (including winter freeze-thaw), or any modifications made to the curb after installation. This type of damage may void the warranty.

To claim warranty service, the original purchaser must notify Castle Custom Curbing Ltd. promptly upon discovery of the defect. Castle Custom Curbing Ltd. reserves the right to inspect the curb and assess the nature of the defect before proceeding with any repairs or replacements.

Care Instructions

To ensure the longevity and performance of your concrete curbs, please follow these care instructions:

Installation

Concrete curbs need time dry. This can take up to 4 days depending on weather, temperature, etc. During this time, please keep pets, children, equipment, toys, etc. away from the curb so it is not impacted. Please allow for 1 month for the full curing process to take place.

Avoid heavy impact

Avoid hitting the curb with heavy machinery (bobcat, ride lawn mower, full wheel barrow) or sharp objects (shovels, rakes, etc), as this may cause cracks or other damage.

Sealing

The concrete sealer will protect the surface from stains, moisture penetration, and freeze-thaw cycles. However, please allow the sealer to dry for 48 hours before getting the curb wet (turn off sprinkler systems).

Cracking

Unfortunately, over time concrete will crack. Especially with our Edmonton climate. The freeze-thaw cycle shifts the ground underneath the concrete and causes bending and strain on the curb (but we include the cable reinforcement to help with this!). If you notice small cracks, you can use a similar color sealant or grout to fill the crack and then re-seal. This will make the crack nearly invisible. If you would like us to make repairs of this sort, let us know but there is a charge for this service

Cleaning

Regular cleaning is essential to prevent the buildup of dirt, debris, and other substances that may compromise the appearance and structural integrity of the curb. Use a mild detergent and water solution for cleaning.

Vegetation control

Trim and control vegetation around the curbs to prevent roots from causing damage.

De-icing agents

Avoid using de-icing chemicals containing ammonium sulfate or ammonium nitrate, as they can damage the concrete surface. Sidewalk salt has also been known to cause minor cracking on the surface of concrete.

Temperature considerations

Concrete curbs are designed to withstand various weather conditions and are extremely durable. However, extreme temperature fluctuations can affect the material and given these conditions, the concrete will crack eventually. This is due to the climate and not workmanship or quality of the products we use.

Re-sealing

We recommend you re-seal your curbs every 2 years. This will maintain the curbs visual appeal, strength, and longevity.

Inspections

Periodically inspect the curbs for any signs of damage, cracking, or deterioration. Address any issues promptly to prevent further damage. Following these care instructions will help maximize the lifespan and appearance of your concrete curbs. Failure to adhere to these guidelines may void the warranty.
