Castle Custom Curbing installs continuous concrete edging that adds beauty and functionality to your yard. Not only does concrete edging look amazing, it reduces yard maintenance by keeping material (rocks, mulch, grass, etc.) where it’s supposed to be and makes mowing much easier.

Overview

This article reviews a Castle Curbing project completed in 2025. Our customer had previous brick edging installed as part of a larger landscaping project. However, what they found was the brick edging didn’t provide much of an edge and wanted to upgrade this part of their landscape.

The Previous Project

Our customer had a previous landscaping project completed a few years prior to our arrival. The landscaper did a great job in adding trees, bushes, flowers, mulch, and sod and really enhanced the backyard into a beautiful space that was welcoming and enjoyable. However, as part of the package, brick edging was used to stretch almost the entire length of the backyard and separate the mulch bed (including the trees, bushes, and flowers) from the grass.

The Dissatisfaction with Brick Edging

Although brick edging is a standard and common edging option and has been used for a very long time, it has some deficiencies that tend to appear more so after the initial landscaping project is complete. With the common practice of the flat bricks being cemented into the ground, the edging is flat and aligns with the top of both the mulch bed and grass. The edging doesn’t provide much of a barrier between the mulch and grass so often the materials will slowly move from one side to the other. The other consideration with the flat bricks is that really you can’t see them once the grass grows. So you spend money on edging but you can’t see it and it really doesn’t do its job of keeping material separated.

The Installation of Continuous Concrete Edging

We were tasked with removing the old brick edging and installing new continuous concrete edging. We removed the bricks and the concrete that kept the bricks in place and hauled it all to the dump. We then flattened the ground and added a nice base for stability and drainage. We then installed the continuous concrete edging along what was the old path with a few adjustments to create a new smooth and winding path of edging. The final product turned out great! Summary

For our customer, they were thrilled with the new concrete edging. It looks amazing, provides more of an edge, and really enhances the entire space. The only thing the customer wished they did was to choose concrete edging in the first place. As part of a new landscaping project, concrete edging is absolutely seamless to integrate, takes very little time to install, and upscales the entire project to give that ultimate finished look. Still, for our customer, we were absolutely thrilled to complete this project at this time for them.

I hope this story connects with you at some level. Whether you are planning a new project, want to upgrade parts of an old project, or are frustrated with some of the things mentioned above, please consider giving us a call if you would like some further information.
